Data Interpretation, Statistical ; Epidemiologic Studies ; Epidemiology ; Longitudinal Studies ; Models, Statistical ; Statistical methodsAbstract: In this book the most important techniques available for longitudinal data analysis are discussed. This discussion includes simple techniques such as the paired t-test and summary statistics, but also more sophisticated techniques such as generalised estimating equations and random coefficient analysis. A distinction is made between longitudinal analysis with continuous, dichotomous, and categorical outcome variables. It should be stressed that the emphasis of the discussion lies on the interpretation of the different techniques and on the comparison of the results of different techniques. Furthermore, special chapters will deal with the analysis of two measurements, experimental studies and the problem of missing data in longitudinal studies. Finally, an extensive overview of (and a comparison between) different software packages is provided. It is important to realise that this book is a practical guide and especially suitable for non-statisticians.

H 97 Public policy (General). Policy sciencesAbstract: "How can individuals best be encouraged to take more responsibility for their well-being and their environment or to behave more ethically in their business transactions? Across the world, governments are showing a growing interest in using behavioural economic research to inform the design of nudges which, some suggest, might encourage citizens to adopt beneficial patterns of behaviour. In this fascinating collection, leading academic economists, psychologists and philosophers reflect on how behavioural economic findings can be used to help inform the design of policy initiatives in the areas of health, education, the environment, personal finances and worker remuneration. Each chapter is accompanied by a shorter 'response' that provides critical commentary and an alternative perspective. This accessible book will interest academic researchers, graduate students and policy-makers across a range of disciplinary perspectives"-- Record link: https://kce.docressources.info/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3276 Hold

Data Collection ; Guideline [Publication Type] ; Methods ; Qualitative ResearchAbstract: Is there more to qualitative data collection than face-to-face interviews? Answering with a resounding 'yes', this book introduces the reader to a wide array of exciting and novel techniques for collecting qualitative data in the social and health sciences. Collecting Qualitative Data offers a practical and accessible guide to textual, media and virtual methods currently under-utilised within qualitative research. Contributors from a range of disciplines share their experiences of implementing a particular technique, provide step-by-step guidance to using that approach, and highlight both the potential and pitfalls. From gathering blog data to the story completion method to conducting focus groups online, the methods and data types featured in this book are ideally suited to student projects and other time- and resource-limited research. In presenting several innovative ways that data can be collected, new modes of scholarship and new research orientations are opened up to student researchers and established scholars alike. Communicable diseases ; Epidemiology ; Infection ; Peer Review ; PeriodicalsAbstract: Epidemiology and Infection publishes original reports and reviews on all aspects of infection in humans and animals. Particular emphasis is given to the epidemiology, prevention and control of infectious diseases. The field covered is broad and includes the zoonoses, tropical infections, food hygiene, vaccine studies, statistics and the clinical, social and public-health aspects of infectious disease. Papers covering microbiology and immunology which have an epidemiological relevance are part of this broad field. Papers come from medical and veterinary scientists worldwide. It has become the key periodical in which to find the latest reports on recently discovered infections and new technology.
