Abstract:	In België krijgt 12% van de ziekenhuispatiënten te maken met doorligwonden of decubitus. Cijfers voor andere zorgomgevingen zijn niet bekend. De FOD Volksgezondheid nam al vele initiatieven ter preventie en vroeg nu ook het Federaal Kenniscentrum voor de Gezondheidszorg (KCE) een richtlijn op te stellen om de zorgverleners een wetenschappelijke ondersteuning te geven bij hun dagelijkse praktijk. Het is geen checklist van interventies geworden, van toepassing op alle risicopatiënten. Dat zou de zorgverleners een vals gevoel van veiligheid geven. Het voorkomen van decubitus wordt best geval per geval aangepakt, met een combinatie van maatregelen, in alle zorgomgevingen. Voor deze studie werkte het KCE samen met UGent , KU Leuven, Belgische wondzorgverenigingen en CIPIQ-S (Collaboration Internationale des Praticiens et Intervenants en Qualité) ,maar ook met het vermaarde Britse National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), een primeur!
