WL 354 TraumaticAbstract: KEY MESSAGES FROM THE PUBLICATION
Although most adult patients with minor head trauma will not have a serious intracranial injury, CT scan is often used in the diagnosis process.
The New Orleans Criteria and the Canadian CT Head Rule are two clinical decision rules which reliably detect adult patients with very low risk of serious intracranial injury. For these patients a CT can in this way be avoided.
In a study population with a prevalence of 7.1% (95%CI: 6.8%-7.4%) of severe intracranial injury following a minor head trauma, the absence of any of the features of the Canadian CT Head Rule lowered the probability of severe injury to 0.31% (95%CI: 0%-4.7%). The absence of all the New Orleans Criteria findings lowered it to 0.61% (95%CI: 0.08%-6.0%).
Combinations of history and physical examination features in clinical decision rules can identify patients with minor head trauma at low risk of severe intracranial injuries. Applying such clinical decision rules could allow limiting the number of CT Scans.

WL 354 TraumaticAbstract: MESSAGES CLÉS DE LA PUBLICATION ORIGINALE

WG 550 Arteriosclerosis and related disordersAbstract: KEY MESSAGES
Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with stents is the most common procedure to restore blood flow in the management of obstructive coronary artery disease. Recently, Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffolds/stents, made from a naturally resorbable material, have been presented as an alternative to other PCI techniques.
According to a systematic review published by Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Health Technology Assessment in March 2015, the available evidence is currently insufficient to show that Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffolds/stents are at least as effective and safer than drug eluting stents in coronary artery disease. The authors recommend to re-assess the evidence in 2018, when results from some of the ongoing trials are expected to become available.Link for e-copy: http://kce.fgov.be/sites/default/files/page_documents/KCE-R4Y_feb2016-EN_ok.pdf Format of e-copy: PDF (254 Kb) Record link: https://kce.docressources.info/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3803 Copies(0)
