Classification ; Databases, Factual ; Diagnosis-Related Groups ; Hospitals ; Patients ; SoftwareAbstract: 3M™ APR DRG Software is widely used today for adjusting large volumes of data to reflect severity of illness and risk of mortality. 3M APR DRGs are an extension of the basic DRG structure that includes four severity-of-illness levels and four risk of mortality levels within each DRG. The 3M APR DRG severity and mortality subclasses are assigned according to a sophisticated clinical logic that simultaneously evaluates the interactions of multiple co-morbidities, age, procedures, and principal diagnosis.
Patients in each of the four clinically meaningful severity levels experience similar resource utilization and outcomes within the 3M APR DRG assignment. Unlike the CMS DRGs, which focus on the Medicare population, the 3M APR DRGs reflect the complete cross-section of patients seen in an acute care setting. The newborn and pediatric portions of the 3M APR DRGs were developed in conjunction with the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI).
The 3M APR DRG Software allows for comparison of hospital service lines, individual physician performance, and patient outcomes through the use of severity adjustment that creates a common measurement across disparate patient types. Quality initiatives and operational improvement can be targeted with 3M APR DRGs.Record link: https://kce.docressources.info/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=1363 Hold

Classification ; Diagnosis-Related Groups ; Handbooks ; Hospitals ; Loose-leaf publications ; Manuals ; Patients ; Prospective Payment System ; United StatesAbstract: When it comes to adjusting your data for severity of illness or risk of mortality, 3M Health Information Systems sets the standard with the 3M APR DRG Classification System. Used for comparative profiling, clinical pathway development and quality assurance, managed care contracting, coder productivity, strategic planning and setting capitation rates, the 3M APR DRG Classification System is assigned using information available from the standard UB-92 (i.e. diagnoses, procedures, age, sex, and discharge status).
You can use the 3M APR DRG Classification System or the 3M™ APR™ DRG Software to prepare for the release of comparative provider reports published by state agencies. For the comparisons to be meaningful, they need to be adjusted for differences in severity of illness and risk of mortality. As a result, when state hospital agencies need to standardize on a severity system, most choose the 3M APR DRG Classification System.Record link: https://kce.docressources.info/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=419 Hold

Classification ; Dictionaries, Pharmaceutic ; Dictionary [PT]Keywords: ATC Abstract: The purpose of the ATC/DDD system is to serve as a tool for drug utilization research in order to improve quality of drug use. One component of this is the presentation and comparison of drug consumption statistics at international and other levels.
A major aim of the Centre and Working Group is to maintain stable ATC codes and DDDs over time to allow trends in drug consumption to be studied without the complication of frequent changes to the system. There is a strong reluctance to make changes to classifications or DDDs where such changes are requested for reasons not directly related to drug consumption studies. For this reason the ATC/DDD system by itself is not suitable for guiding decisions about reimbursement, pricing and therapeutic substitution.
The classification of a substance in the ATC/DDD system is not a recommendation for use, nor does it imply any judgements about efficacy or relative efficacy of drugs and groups of drugs.
Contents note: Drugs are classified in groups at five different levels. The drugs are divided into fourteen main groups (1st level), with one pharmacological/therapeutic subgroup (2nd level). The 3rd and 4th levels are chemical/pharmacological/therapeutic subgroups and the 5th level is the chemical substance. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th levels are often used to identify pharmacological subgroups when that is considered more appropriate than therapeutic or chemical subgroups.
