Ces dérivés sont obtenus par fractionnement de plasma sanguin d’origine humaine. Le Centre fédéral d’expertise des soins de santé (KCE) a examiné dans quelle mesure la Belgique pouvait subvenir à ses propres besoins en dérivés plasmatiques. Pour le moment, les donneurs belges fournissent 60% des quantités utilisées en Belgique ; le reste est acheté à l’étranger. A court terme, cela ne semble pas poser problème mais le système actuel qui consiste à subsidier la Croix Rouge et le Département Central de Fractionnement (DCF) pour garantir un bon approvisionnement en dérivés plasmatiques, offre peu de garanties réelles en cas d’augmentation brusque de la demande de dérivés au niveau international. Le KCE recommande une analyse de risques et plus de transparence au niveau de l’utilisation des subsides et sur les volumes de plasma et de dérivés plasmatiques qui transitent par le DCF. Ze worden gemaakt door fractionering van menselijk bloedplasma. Het Federaal Kenniscentrum voor de Gezondheidszorg (KCE) ging na in welke mate België zelf kan voorzien in zijn plasmaderivaten. Momenteel leveren de Belgische donors 60% van de in België gebruikte derivaten, de rest wordt in het buitenland aangekocht. Op korte termijn lijken er zich geen problemen te stellen, maar het huidig systeem van subsidiëring van het Rode Kruis en de Centrale Afdeling voor Fractionering (CAF) biedt weinig waterdichte garanties tegen een plotse stijging van de internationale vraag naar derivaten. Het KCE pleit voor een risicoanalyse en voor meer transparantie over het gebruik van de subsidies en het volume aan plasma en derivaten dat bij het CAF passeert.
