Mathematics ; Social surveys ; Statistical methodsAbstract: This book examines ways to analyze complex surveys, and focuses on the problems of weights and design effects. This new edition incorporates recent practice of analyzing complex survey data, introduces the new analytic approach for categorical data analysis (logistic regression), reviews new software and provides an introduction to the model-based analysis that can be useful analyzing well-designed, relatively small-scale social surveys. Data Interpretation, Statistical ; Epidemiologic Studies ; Epidemiology ; Longitudinal Studies ; Models, Statistical ; Statistical methodsAbstract: In this book the most important techniques available for longitudinal data analysis are discussed. This discussion includes simple techniques such as the paired t-test and summary statistics, but also more sophisticated techniques such as generalised estimating equations and random coefficient analysis. A distinction is made between longitudinal analysis with continuous, dichotomous, and categorical outcome variables. It should be stressed that the emphasis of the discussion lies on the interpretation of the different techniques and on the comparison of the results of different techniques. Furthermore, special chapters will deal with the analysis of two measurements, experimental studies and the problem of missing data in longitudinal studies. Finally, an extensive overview of (and a comparison between) different software packages is provided. It is important to realise that this book is a practical guide and especially suitable for non-statisticians.
• Clearly understandable by non-statisticians
• Compares and contrasts different techniques and methods of analysis
• Illustrated with examples of real-life research questionsContents note: 1. Introduction; 2. Study design; 3. Continuous outcome variables; 4. Continuous outcome variables - relationships with other variables; 5. Other possibilities to model longitudinal data; 6. Dichotomous outcome variables; 7. Categorical and 'count' outcome variables; 8. Longitudinal studies with two measurements: the definition and analysis of change; 9. Analysis of experimental studies; 10. Missing data in longitudinal studies; 11. Tracking; 12. Software for longitudinal data-analysis; 13. Sample size calculations; Index. Economics, Medical ; Health Care Costs ; Methods ; Statistical methodsAbstract: The third volume in the Handbooks in Health Economic Evaluation series, this book provides the reader with a comprehensive set of instructions and examples of how to perform an economic evaluation of a health intervention. It focuses solely on cost-effectiveness analysis in health care. The book is developed out of the Advanced Methods of Cost-Effectiveness Analysis course taught at the University of Oxford and the four main sections mirror the four principal components of the course: Outcomes, Costs, Modelling using decision tress and Markov models, and Presenting cost-effectiveness results.&L ABOUT THE SERIES Series editors Alastair Gray and Andrew Briggs Economic evaluation of health intervention is a growing specialist field, and this series of practical handbooks tackles, in depth, topics superficially addressed in more general economics books. Each volume includes illustrative material, case histories and worked examples to encourage the reader to apply the methods discussed, with supporting material provided online. The series is for health economists in academia, the pharmaceutical industry and the health sector, those on advanced health economics courses, and health researchers in associated fields Record link: https://kce.docressources.info/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4384 Hold
