Used for comparative profiling, clinical pathway development and quality assurance, managed care contracting, coder productivity, strategic planning and setting capitation rates, the 3M APR DRG Classification System is assigned using information available from the standard UB-92 (i.e. diagnoses, procedures, age, sex, and discharge status).
You can use the 3M APR DRG Classification System or the 3M™ APR™ DRG Software to prepare for the release of comparative provider reports published by state agencies. For the comparisons to be meaningful, they need to be adjusted for differences in severity of illness and risk of mortality. As a result, when state hospital agencies need to standardize on a severity system, most choose the 3M APR DRG Classification System.Record link: https://kce.docressources.info/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=419 Hold
