En Belgique, le niveau de littératie en santé semble problématique pour 30 à 45% de la population.
De nombreux pays ont mis en œuvre des plans d’action destinés à améliorer la littératie en santé de leur population. Le Centre fédéral d’Expertise des Soins de Santé (KCE) a été chargé de les analyser afin d’en tirer des enseignements pour un éventuel plan au niveau belge. Idéalement, la mobilisation devrait concerner tous les secteurs de la société (enseignement, emploi…), mais certainement en premier lieu l’ensemble des professionnels et des organisations de santé.
