Cet article vous propose de suivre les tribulations d’une bibliothécaire et de son public dans le monde des logiciels libres et de l’un d’eux en particulier : PMB. Depuis quelque temps, les logiciels libres rencontrent un franc succès. Qui n’a pas entendu parler de Linux et autres OpenOffice ? Le monde des bibliothécaires n’échappe pas à la règle. On voit de plus en plus de SIGB libres se développer sur le marché. Le but de cet article n'est pas de faire une comparaison de ces divers logiciels, que les professionnels que vous êtes connaissent certainement ou dont vous avez du moins entendu parler. Je désire plutôt vous faire part d’une expérience pratique d’utilisation d’un tel logiciel et de ses implications dans mon travail.
Is het een goed idee wanneer een schoolbibliotheek ervoor kiest om van beheerssoftware te veranderen en ervoor opteert om dit vrij van het Internet te downloaden? Dit artikel stelt u de beproevingen voor van een bibliothecaris en de gevolgen voor de gebruiker als zo een vrij beschikbare software wordt geïnstalleerd en dan één software in het bijzonder: PMB. Reeds enige tijd kennen deze vrije softwaresystemen een groot succes. De wereld van de bibliothecarissen ontsnapt ook niet aan deze regel. We zien steeds meer en meer vrij beschikbare bibliotheekbeheerssoftware zich ontwikkelen op de markt. Wie heeft nog niet horen spreken over Linux en Open Office? De vraag rijst wat er in de praktijk van terecht komt. De bedoeling van dit artikel is niet een vergelijking te maken tussen de verschillende softwaresystemen die de meeste onder jullie kennen of waar jullie tenminste al hebben horen over spreken.
