Record link: https://kce.docressources.info/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4216 Hold

Aged ; Belgium ; Delivery of Health Care ; Health Surveys ; Long-Term CareAbstract: This study analyses the social protection systems in the 13 applicant countries from an economic perspective, focusing on the functioning of the systems and the underlying structures. It looks at the socio-demographic and economic challenges the systems are faced with and the reforms undertaken and planned.
The results should enhance knowledge on social protection reform in Central and Eastern Europe, Malta, Turkey and Cyprus. The synthesis report is based on the 13 country studies. The country studies have been elaborated by national research institutes, the synthesis report by a team of social policy researchers from EU member states.
Substantial information on the social protection systems of the candidate countries regarding policy development, legislation and national statistics has been collected to date.
However, comparative statistics are still rarely available. The second edition of the Eurostat yearbook on the candidate countries represents one attempt to make statistical indicators comparable. With regard to the economic developments an increased economic monitoring in the light of enlargement can be observed. With regard to social statistics, although efforts have been made to compile employment
statistics and a pilot project has recently been launched to establish statistics on poverty and social exclusion, with the exception of periodic population censuses, there is still a lack of substantial social data which allows for a comprehensive comparative assessment between the candidate countries.
In this report we will outline relevant data sources which are available at this time and sketch the economic and socio-demographic conditions countries are faced with.Link for e-copy: http://ec.europa.eu/employment_social/soc-prot/healthcare/be_healthreply_fr.pdf Format of e-copy: Record link: https://kce.docressources.info/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=1252 Reforming long-term care in Europe / Joan Costa-Font / Oxford : Wiley-Blackwell (2011)

WT 31 Long-Term CareAbstract: "Reforming Long-term Care in Europe offers the most up-to-date analysis of the features and developments of long-term care in Europe. Each chapter focuses on a key question in the policy debate in each country and offers a description and analysis of each system. Offers the very latest analysis of long-term care reform agendas in Europe. Compares countries comparatively less studied with the experiences of reform in Germany, the UK, Netherlands and Sweden. Each chapter focuses on a key question in the policy debate in each country and portrays a description and analysis of each system. Contributions from a wide range of European scholars for an exceptionally broad perspective."--Provided by publisher. "The assistance given to older people to help with the essential activities of their daily lives is one of the key policy responsibilities undergoing an expansion of public converge. Given the extended life-spans of populations across Europe, this pertinent issue is now increasingly in the loop of political reform in all countries, including the UK, Spain, Germany and Sweden. This book offers the most up-to-date analysis of the features and developments of long-term care in Europe. It focuses on countries that have been comparatively less studied, for example, Eastern Europe, Italy, France and Spain, and makes comparisons with reform practices in Germany, the UK, Netherlands and Sweden. Each chapter focuses on a key question in the policy debate in each country and offers a description and analysis of each system"--Provided by publisher.
