WE 707 Neoplasms (Head and neck)Abstract: Le Centre Fédéral d’Expertise des Soins de Santé (KCE) a développé, en collaboration avec le Collège d’Oncologie, un guide de pratique clinique pour le traitement des cancers de la gorge (pharynx) et du larynx. Ces cancers touchent chaque année entre 850 et 900 personnes. Comme il s’agit de cancers rares et complexes, ils doivent être pris en charge par des équipes multidisciplinaires comprenant des praticiens expérimentés, dans un hôpital spécialisé. Mais soigner une personne atteinte de cancer ne se limite pas à éliminer sa tumeur : il faut aussi prendre en compte sa qualité de vie « après ». C’est pourquoi l’éventail des soins nécessaires comprend aussi de la dentisterie, de la logopédie, des conseils nutritionnels et un soutien psychologique. WE 707 Neoplasms (Head and neck)Abstract: Het Federaal Kenniscentrum voor de Gezondheidszorg (KCE) ontwikkelde samen met het College voor Oncologie een klinische richtlijn over de behandeling van keel- en strottenhoofdkanker (farynx en larynx). Dit soort kankers wordt jaarlijks bij 850 tot 900 personen vastgesteld. Omdat ze zeldzaam en complex zijn, moeten ze worden behandeld door een multidisciplinair team van ervaren zorgverleners in een gespecialiseerd ziekenhuis. Goede zorg is immers veel meer dan het behandelen van de kanker alleen: ook aan de levenskwaliteit “na” de kanker moet worden gedacht. Daarom omvat de zorg ook tandzorg, logopedie, voedingsadvies en psychologische ondersteuning, want de behandeling heeft vaak een impact op het spraak- en slikvermogen, en kan leiden tot misvorming van aangezicht en hals.
