WR 598 Pressure UlcerAbstract: In België krijgt meer dan 1 op 10 ziekenhuispatiënten te maken met doorligwonden of decubitus. Er zijn bij ons geen cijfers voor andere zorgomgevingen bekend, maar volgens Europese cijfers heeft ook 6% tot ruim 30 % van de bewoners in woonzorgcentra ermee te kampen.Na een richtlijn over preventie van decubitus (rapport 193 - jan 2013), ontwikkelde het Federaal Kenniscentrum voor de Gezondheidszorg (KCE) nu een richtlijn voor de behandeling van deze wonden. Het aanbod van zorgmaterialen en -producten, zoals matrassen, verbanden, voedingsmiddelen, enz, is groot en groeit steeds aan. Toch bestaat er geen betrouwbaar wetenschappelijk bewijs dat een bepaalde aanpak of product betere resultaten geeft. De behandeling wordt het best aangepast aan elke individuele patiënt, en moet gebeuren door een multidisciplinair zorgteam (verpleegkundigen, geriater, huidspecialisten, ...). Ze mag bovendien niet onderbroken worden wanneer de patiënt van zorgomgeving verandert.
Voor deze studie werkte het KCE samen met UGent , KU Leuven, Belgische wondzorgverenigingen en het vermaarde Britse National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

WR 598 Pressure UlcerAbstract: In België krijgt 12% van de ziekenhuispatiënten te maken met doorligwonden of decubitus. Cijfers voor andere zorgomgevingen zijn niet bekend. De FOD Volksgezondheid nam al vele initiatieven ter preventie en vroeg nu ook het Federaal Kenniscentrum voor de Gezondheidszorg (KCE) een richtlijn op te stellen om de zorgverleners een wetenschappelijke ondersteuning te geven bij hun dagelijkse praktijk. Het is geen checklist van interventies geworden, van toepassing op alle risicopatiënten. Dat zou de zorgverleners een vals gevoel van veiligheid geven. Het voorkomen van decubitus wordt best geval per geval aangepakt, met een combinatie van maatregelen, in alle zorgomgevingen.
