De tests die onder de loep genomen worden zijn spirometrie en flow-volumecurve, absolute longvolumes, luchtwegweerstand en specifieke conductantie, en diffusie en diffusie per volume-eenheid. Na een inleiding rond een algemene interpretatiestrategie voor longfunctie-onderzoek, volgt een opeenvolging van casussen. Iedere casus is rijkelijk geïllustreerd en voorzien van referenties naar de relevante literatuur. Deze casussen zijn verzameld in vergaderingen van de diverse Lokale Kwaliteitsgroepen pneumologie. Het boek richt zich dan ook in eerste instantie tot longartsen. Dit boek is evenwel ook uitstekend bruikbaar voor studenten geneeskunde en assistenten in opleiding interne geneeskunde en pneumologie, die hierin een uitstekende inleiding in het longfunctie-onderzoek zullen vinden.
